This tile from the early 18th century features a bird resting on a flower with a butterfly next to it in Frisian Delft style, with very delicate strokes in its design. Unlike many other Delft tiles, this one lacks corner motifs, placing full emphasis on the central decoration.
The tile is in very good condition, with some small wear on the surface. Hand-painted in cobalt blue on a white tin-glazed surface, it reflects the refined artistry of Friesland’s ceramic traditions. Tiles like this were commonly used to decorate kitchens and fireplaces.
